AT&T Co has launched the Definity range of PABXs in the US, saying that the new line merges its System 75 and System 85 architectures. The Definity name will be carried on communications systems, systems management products, voice terminals and call management products. The PABXs, for medium to large applications, support Primary and Basic Rate ISDN interfaces, and will have an ISDN tariff later this year. Definity 75/85 PABXs are suppied as Generic 1, available in March for up to 1,500 lines, and Generic 2, available July, for up to 30,000 lines; US System 75 users can upgrade to Definity Generic 1 for $8,500, and System 85 holders can upgrade to Generic 2 for $35,000. AT&T has also released five system management products for the Definity PABXs, based on the company’s united network management architecture. AT&T’s UK systems marketing centre says a System 75 upgrade to the Generic 1 could be available by the end of 1990; System 85 is unavailable in the UK.
