Hemel Hempstead-based TekServ Computer Services Ltd is claiming to offer a new support service for Wang’s VS300 business computers at 25% less than the Wang equivalent: the company provides fixed price maintenance contracts for Wang processors and peripherals, with response times two four or eight hours, depending on the components; TekServ has adopted a one-stop shop approach to maintenance, and although 85% of its business is Wang-based, it will support other equipment, predominantly DEC and Olivetti; a wholly owned division of MAI Holdings, Tekserv in the UK has avoided some of the pitfalls of the maintenance industry that have befallen its sister companies in continental Europe; the Belgian company was sold to Thomainfor in November last year, (CI No 1,302) but here, Tekserv Ltd is now con-sidering making some acquisitions.
