ComWare International Ltd has announced the UK release of Relay Gold version 5.0 for Windows, further to its US launch in July. Barry Marshall-Johnson, managing director of the Woking, Surrey-based company says the product enables communication with mainframes and personal computers over asynchronous modems, synchronous modems via Relay’s SDLC dial-up module, 3270 coax boards, Token Ring, SNA/SDLC, QLLC and X25 gateways and direct Token Ring 802.2 TIC connections. The package supports terminal emulations and file transfer protocols, offering connections to information services, bulletin boards and minicomputers. And it includes clipboard support in the form of cut/copy/paste commands, as well as support of an on-screen 3270 keyboard. The majority of sales are expected to be as upgrades from the MS-DOS version. The managing director added that laptops are the primary growth area for Relay Gold as salespeople and service engineers need constant access to data on the office mainframe. Relay Gold 5.0 for Windows is priced at UKP300 in the UK and $400 in the US.
