Oracle has enhanced its portfolio of Health Sciences Cloud Applications with the next-gen Health Sciences Cloud, a scalable and secure Software-as-a-Service delivery platform tailored for the specific requirements and regulations of the health sciences market.

The enhanced Health Sciences Cloud delivers life sciences and healthcare apps with performance, scalability and security, said the company.

The offering supports the networked environment for research, clinical development, and healthcare delivery wherein data must be effectively and securely managed across multiple organisations, including life sciences companies, contract research organisations (CROs), academic medical centres, and regulators and outsourcing vendors.

The company said that in conjunction with its Health Sciences Cloud Apps, Health Sciences Cloud will help health sciences organisations accelerate IT deployments, reduce resources required to maintain IT infrastructure and gain a predictable IT spending pattern.

In addition, the HIPAA certified cloud provides full qualification and validation testing for each instance of the deployed app and is compliant with US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Part 11.

The Health Sciences offering is currently available as a service on the Health Sciences Cloud include electronic data capture, electronic patient reported outcomes, study design, coding and dictionary management, trial randomisation and drug supply management, research clinic automation, and safety management.

Further, the Health Sciences Cloud will take advantage of Oracle’s hardware and software, including Fusion Middleware, Exadata Database Machine, and Sun ZFS Storage Appliance.

Oracle health sciences senior vice president and general manager Neil de Crescenzo said the Health Sciences Cloud and their proven portfolio of Health Sciences Cloud Applications offer customers a formidable combination of scalability, data security, value, and confidence.
