Syntrex Inc, the Eatontown, New Jersey company that was once Olivetti’s partner on intelligent typewriters, has moved away from office systems and into local network systems integration. And with 40 offices nationwide, it reckons to be one of the biggest network integrators in the US. Its latest move is to sign up with David Systems Inc, the Sunnyvale, California company. Ameritech, the Chicago Baby Bell, is an investor who will also market David’s line of Ethernetworking products. David Systems manufactures David ExpressNet, a line of twisted-pair hubs and five-slot and 12-slot concentrators designed to provide 10Mbps twisted-pair and fibre-optic links in high-density locations. The fully 10Base-T compliant product line features built-in microprocessor-based diagnostics, remote diagnostics and management, centrally wired star topology and an expandable building-block topology for cost-effectively connecting both small and companywide local area networks. One concentrator can connect up to 132 ports. David has also recently announced VolksNet, a 10Base-T hub for smaller workgroups. Formed to enhance the role of integrated digital communications, David Systems supplied its first Ethernet products in 1985. The company holds six communication patents and is an active participant in the IEEE 802.3 10Base-T twisted-pair Ethernet standard and Hub Management committees and is a founder of the 10Base-T Consortium at the University of New Hampshire. Syntrex manufactures a line of network certified Fault Tolerant Servers and network workstations. It also has a new line of 33MHz 80386-based and 25MHz 80486-based servers.
