Moving IT from the back office to the board room

Cost center or strategic partner? How would you say your business views its IT department? Is IT involved in strategic decisions and plans, or working in parallel to them? For now, we appear to be in a transitional phase. Our research shows almost half of IT decision-makers think their organization views IT as ‘functional’ or a ‘cost center’. However, 70% expect IT to become a strategic part of the business in three years’ time. The response suggests IT is making headway in its journey to the center of organizational strategy. This is encouraging. But to become that strategic partner to the rest of the business, you need to help end users be more productive. And you can’t deliver productivity without the right infrastructure in place.
