ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network offerings has introduced the 4-path TD-LTE Remote Radio Unit (RRU) that operates at a bandwidth of 40MHz and transmits with a power of 80W.

The new RRU supports 2x20MHz TD-LTE carriers and 80W (20W x 4 paths) of transmission power, and edge frequency efficiency increased by more than 30%.

The product increases network coverage and reduces Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for operators.

It support two carriers, reducing the number of base station devices needed by operators.

The RRU can also be upgraded to support LTE-A, which protects operators’ investment.

The RRU provides an efficient balance between capacity and coverage when used with ZTE’s leading smart antenna technology, which reduces operators’ Capital Expenditures (CAPEX), the company said.

The RRU expected to be widely used with future TD-LTE networking systems.

Through software configuration, the new RRU can also can be configured into two 2*20W 2T2R RRUs to provide a low-cost TD-LTE networking offering, the company said.
