While members muse whether the organisation should take Tivoli Systems Inc’s TME 2.0 submission forward to consideration by its distributed management committee, Reading, Berkshire-headquartered X/Open Co Ltd has apparently asked that anyone else that intends to put forward a submission for distributed management to declare their intent to do so by the 16th of this month. The request appears to be X/Open’s way of trying to clear up any remaining confusion and find out at least who is going to pitch for the standard, if not what those submissions will be. OpenVision Inc, which has already embraced Digital Equipment Corp’s Object Broker as a distribution services mechanism for its systems management product line, confirms that it will be making a submission, and that as part of its proposal, it will make its advent and policy management engines and collector services freely available to all comers.
