Xerox Corp has won the latest round of its legal battle over laser printers against Hewlett-Packard Co. A US District Court judge in Wichita, Kansas, has ruled that HP must supply Xerox with 4,000 chips already ordered for its NC60 color laser printers. Xerox, however, was forced to post a $250,000 bond. The chips come from DP-TEK Development Co LLC, a Wichita-based company acquired by HP back in 1996. At the time of the acquisition, DP-TEK was already supplying the print resolution enhancement to Xerox at the time of the acquisition. The real dispute, over patents, continues.
