Thin client systems, whether network computer or Windows terminals, haven’t taken off as fast as their supporters had hoped. But terminal maker Wyse Technology Inc claims to have won nearly a third of what market there is in the network computing arena over all, and says the volume has allowed it to make price reductions of 20% on its latest Windows terminal line, the Winterm 2000 Series. Estimated street pricing now ranges from $700 to $1,150. The 2000 Series supports Citrix Systems Inc’s ICA protocol, and says there will be a seamless path to supporting Microsoft Corp’s forthcoming RDP Remote Desktop Product protocol.
