Significantly, the unique premise of PublicSource combining the latest thinking in e-procurement together with outstanding traditional supply routes, is further strengthened by adding 30,000 products and 200 branches of Newey & Eyre to the existing 300,000 products and over 1,000 branches in the Wolseley network.
Hagemeyer UK is part of Hagemeyer NV, which has electrical distribution outlets across 43 countries, and Hagemeyer’s Newey & Eyre brand is seen as a natural complement to the Wolseley Centers brands of Plumb Center, Builder Center, Pipeline Center, and HRPC already participating in PublicSource. The association was also assisted by Newey & Eyre’s existing e-commerce capability.
The public sector has been set exacting targets for e-procurement and Wolseley Centers has developed PublicSource to provide cost-effective e-procurement solutions within the GBP2.5bn public sector building materials market.
PublicSource already provides full transactional e-commerce on 330,000 building plumbing and heating products for public sector ‘best value’ compliant purchasing purposes. Newey & Eyre’s participation adds a full range of electrical products to the service and means that authorised workers employed by public bodies can access materials for maintenance and improvement of council houses, schools and NHS buildings from Wolseley Centers and Newey & Eyre branches throughout the UK.
PublicSource have a number of Local Authorities who are happy to participate in the e-commerce environment. Through arrangements with Streamline, part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, they purchase their requirements by use of a purchasing card.
