McDonalds is planning to offer wireless charging spots for its customers across 50 restaurants in the UK.
According to reports, the fast food giant has signed a deal with provider Aircharge to install 600 wireless charging points across 50 of its UK outlets.
The charging points will allow customers to charge their smartphone batteries without having to plug them in into a port.
The technology is only compatible with selected handsets, including the Nexus 6 and Lumia 930, reported The Telegraph.
Using the Qi standard, the wireless technology is already been used by retailers in the US including The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, while airline company Virgin Atlantic Airways is also planning to install Qi standard chargers at airports.
A WPC Qi representative at CES 2015 said: "The Aircharge charging spots were specially designed to be water resistant and easy to wipe clean – perfect for a public environment like a restaurant.
"And because they’re using Qi, many consumers already have devices that are ready to charge.
"There are already more than 70 Qi-enable smartphones on the market. During the rollout, Aircharge worked with Desireitnow for data layer support."
