The first fruits of the deal are likely to be seen on Lufthansa jets flying in and out of Europe. The German airline was the first to commit to the Connexion by Boeing product, which uses satellite communication to connect its aircraft-based hotspot technology to the Internet, and already operates the service on several long-haul routes.
Vodafone joins NTT DoCoMo as one of the first telcos to partner with Connexion by Boeing for in-flight WLAN. Several airlines in addition to Lufthansa will also begin to offer Connexion by Boeing on selected routes. These include All Nippon Airways, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, and Singapore Airlines.
