VersionOne, a provider of agile management tools, has released agile data mart for custom reporting, which provides insight into development progress and business value.

According to the VersionOne, development teams can share project visibility across distributed teams. The Agile Data Mart allows teams to extend this visibility to the standard, pre-defined reports and dashboards used. Leveraging existing third-party reporting and analytics tools, teams can also define the specific data that needs to be analysed, providing more targeted and actionable business insight to stakeholders in the organisation.

The company said that the new management custom reporting tool provides benefits such as, teams can select the data they need; sample report queries and definitions are provided which are further modifiable, leverage existing reporting and analytics tools wherein the teams can use any third-party reporting and analytics tool of their choice such as SAP’s Crystal Reports and Business Objects, Microsoft’s SQL Reporting Service and IBM’s Cognos.

In addition, the new tool also helps to optimise custom agile reporting and analytics. Data is organised around core agile activities enabling simple reporting of standard and customer-defined metrics, the company said.

As part of the platform, the company also provides free, open-source plug-ins for Visual Studio and Eclipse. The plug-ins have been enhanced to provide team members with direct access to view, track, update and close any work items in VersionOne without leaving their integrated development environment (IDE).

Robert Holler, president and CEO of VersionOne, said: Creating custom agile reports and dashboards has always been a complicated and time consuming activity. The most popular request on IdeaSpace was to provide customers with a simple way to create their own unique reports and dashboards. With our agile data mart, designed specifically for reporting simplicity, delivering custom reports and dashboards is now quick and easy.
