The purchase expands VeriFone’s electronic payment transactions and services offerings with PC- and server-based technology, including PCCharge, a payment platform which enables businesses to process credit cards, ATM/debit cards and check guarantee services on Windows-based PCs, and RiTA Server, a Java-based scalable transaction switch that supports high-volume payment transactions.

The PC-based point of sale payment processing software has an installed base of 150,000 businesses.

As part of the agreement, GO Software products and employees will be integrated into VeriFone, with the aim of enabling the company to market payment processing software to operate on virtually any platform, including Windows, UNIX, Linux, AIX, OS/390, OS/400 and Sun Solaris.
