US mobile broadband industry is expected to increase to $167.7bn during the five-year period between 2011 – 2016, rising at a slower rate compared to last five years, according to a new report.
According to a report by Research and Markets, the performance of the industry is forecast to grow at a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27.4% for the five-year period.
Mobile broadband covers services where users can connect their mobile telephones or computer devices like laptops to the internet through cellular networks such as 3G or higher, either through a USB modem or an embedded SIM card in their device, or through satellite technology.
The "Mobile Broadband in the United States" report, offers detailed qualitative and quantitative summary information including market size and volume in 2007-11, and forecast to 2016.
The US mobile broadband industry reported total revenues of $50bn in 2011, representing a CAGR of 33.6% between 2007 and 2011.
Industry consumption volumes increased at a rate of 46.7% between 2007 and 2011, to reach a total of 236.3 million subscribers in 2011.
Access to the internet through fixed wireless technology is not included in this report.
