Sacramento, California-based Unify bought Gupta from Halo Technology Holdings LLC after raising its initial offer of $5m.

As part of the deal Unify has offloaded its Insurance Risk Management Division and ViaMode transportation software product family to Halo.

The acquisition doubles Unify’s annual revenue. The transaction is expected to be accretive to pro forma earnings going forward.

Todd Wille, CEO of Unify, called the merger a milestone for both companies that would strengthen their global ISV partner and VAR/OEM distribution channels and customer base for cross-platform development and embedded database products.

Wille said that Unify is aggressively engaged in cross-selling initiatives across both customer bases and is working on new product development for new SOA development and database tools.

These include SOA and web services tools that help companies to migrate their Lotus Notes applications and implement embeddable databases.

Unify announced its intent to buy Gupta, a 20 year old database and development tools firm, in September this year to advance its own embedded database business led by its DataServer product. Unify is also integrating Gupta’s SQLBase and team Developer technologies into its NXJ/Composer development tool product lines.
