The company has appointed Chris Manton-Jones as vice president and managing director. Before joining Unica he managed the EMEA business for call-center software provider Witness Systems. He will be responsible for leading the European team’s efforts to achieve a leading position in the market.
Although Unica has experienced European growth, it still only has about 100 customers in Europe. However, the company recently opened offices in the Netherlands and Spain and expanded operations in Germany and the UK.
One of the remaining specialist players in the CRM market, Unica is small but is growing as demand for marketing software rises. Despite being a core part of CRM, marketing remains an under-penetrated sector due to its fragmented nature and the lack of emphasis on accountability and ROI in what is often perceived as a creative area.
When it released its preliminary selected financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2007 earlier this month, Unica said it expected fourth-quarter revenue to rise 22% to $29.5m compared to the year-ago quarter. Perpetual license revenue was expected to be $12.8m, up 18%, with subscription revenue coming in at an expected $2.4m, a 29% increase. The company is expecting anything from a loss of $400,000 to income of $400,000 in the fourth quarter. For the full year 2007, it expects revenue of $102.3m, an increase of 24%.
