A UK court has ordered ISPs to block access to 21 websites that offer links to pirated music content.
According to British Recording Music Industry (BPI), the websites include FilesTube, 1337x, BitSnoop, ExtraTorrent, Monova, TorrentHound, Torrentreactor and Torrentz.eu in addition to several others.
BPI chief executive said Geoff Taylor said: "We asked the sites to stop infringing copyright but unfortunately they did not and we were left with little choice but to apply to the court."
The High Court judge has also ordered the sites to be blocked from today.
Upon receiving court orders, BT and Virgin Media have confirmed plans to stop access to the sites soon, while Sky and TalkTalk are yet to confirm.
However, the majority of copyright infringement has now shifted from music downloads to illegal film and TV downloads.
Recently, pirated BitTorrents provider IsoHunt has also agreed to close all its operations under a court settlement in a piracy lawsuit filed by the Motion Picture Association of America.
A recent survey by trade association Tiga revealed that 87% of UK game developers and digital publishers prefer implementation of new business models to combat piracy, while 10% support adoption of stricter enforcement of intellectual property rights.
