The service is currently only available in the Kanto region and in the major cities in the Tokai area but the company plans to provide the service in the Kansai area by November 2001.
While TU-KA was promoting this launch, its parent company, KDDI, was forming an alliance to promote CDMA around the world.
KDDI has joined forces with South Korea’s LG Telecom to set up a marketing and technology sharing venture. The two companies hope to create a worldwide CDMA belt, stretching across from India, through China and Southeast Asia across to Australia then up to Latin America and North America. KDDI and LG are to rope in operators from all these areas to work together to promote CDMA.
