South Korea’s TriGem Computer has opened its new domestic production facility with a monthly capacity of 300,000 PCs boosting its total Korean capacity to 450,000 units a month. TriGem’s Netherlands plant which has a 600,000 monthly capacity opened in July this year and another plant which will also be able to turn out 600,000 PCs a month is due to come onstream in Shenyang, China next month. When all of the plants are fully operational, TriGem’s annual PC production capacity will 7.8 million, making it potentially one of the world’s biggest PC makers. Trigem says its expansion is a response to sharply growing orders. It expects to export more than 3 million PCs this year and twice that amount next year.
