Texas Instruments Inc introduced three additions to its TravelMate family of notebook computers, all based on versions of the 80486: the TM4000 WinSX/16, the TM 4000 WinSX/25 and the TM 4000 WinDX 25 include Windows 3.1 and MS-DOS 5.0 pre-installed on their 80Mb, 120Mb and 120Mb disks respectively and cost $3,200, $3,800 and $4,400; total travel weight of the TM4000 including all accessories is under 6.6 lbs while alone the notebook computers weigh under 5.6 lbs, making them the lightest, smallest 80486-based notebooks on the market, Texas claims; they have a new higher contrast display to support an active Windows environment, with all models allowing an external colour monitor to be used as well.
