German IT equipment manufacturer and distributor Transtec AG has paid an unspecified sum for Datacomp AG, a Swiss assembler and distributor of PCs and peripherals. Tuebingen-based Transtec said the acquisition of Datacomp, which is headquartered in Dietikon, outside Zurich, doubles its revenue in Switzerland. Last year it sold DM55.1m ($30m) of equipment, including desktops, servers and workstations in that country, while Datacomp reported revenue of DM51 ($28m).

Besides Germany, the Neuer Markt-quoted Transtec is currently in eight other European countries, having founded its most recent subsidiaries in Belgium (in January this year) and Denmark (in July). For 1998 the company reported a net profit of DM8.9m ($4.8m) on revenue of DM279m ($150m).
