Early last month, the Institut d’Expertise en Reseaux et Integration de Systemes, ERIS, the first training centre in France for network and systems integration, opened for business in the Paris region, equipped with Cisco Systems Inc 4000 routers, Sun Microsystems Inc Sparcstation 10s and SynOptics Communications Inc concentrators. SunConnect and Cisco Systems have signed over all of their training activity to ERIS, which is staffed by Cisco-certified instructors Arche Communications SA and SunConnect-certified Diva Microsystemes SA, ERIS said. The institute expects to do close to $1m this year in training fees. Initially, Arche Communications is offering courses at ERIS on configuration of Cisco routers and CiscoWorks training, while Diva Mic-rosystemes trains on Unix systems administration and SunNet Manager. At ERIS, each student gets the use of a Sparcstation 10, Cisco 4000 router and SynOptics concentrator, in a configuration that reproduces a large enterprise’s network. ERIS says it is open to other partners, adding that several have already indicated their interest in joining the group.
