Hewlett-Packard Co has entrusted marketing and distribution of its internationalisation interface for Unix systems to the Instruction Set Ltd of North London and its associates. The internationalisation interface, known as the Native Language System, NLS, was developed by Hewlett-Packard for internal purposes before being adopted by the X/Open group back in the autumn. X/Open will take care of distribution to the 11 X/Open members; the Instruction Set will sell to any European-based Unix licencee; Lachmann Associates and Interactive Systems Corp will take care of the US. The Instruction Set was picked because of its porting experience and involvement as technical consultant to X/Open.
