The trial involves specially designated multi-parking bays. The customer selects the parking bay number and the duration of time required on the meter. She then uses her GSM phone to call a special number and relay the information. The transaction is confirmed via a recorded announcement, and the meter displays the expiry time and free.
The service will cost customers A$0.55 on top of the parking fee. The total amount will then appear on the subscriber’s next phone bill.
