Telesoft Inc, headquartered in San Diego, California, says that developers using its TeleUse User Interface Management System can now use Saber Software Inc’s Saber-C environment simultaneously. This combines the TeleUse tools for developing OSF/Motif-based graphical user interfaces with Saber-C’s programming environment for application prototyping, debugging and project building or browsing capabilities. Telesoft says that the technical integration spans several areas, and TeleUse is installed subservient to the Saber-C environment. As the application is being developed, the TeleUse-created modules can be managed by the Saber-C environment. The project support features can manage the entire development effort including both the applications code as well as the graphical user interface code and objects. Also, Telesoft says that the graphical user unterface debugging process has been improved. Developers can now bring up two windows on the workstation and one will contain the interface debugger for debugging the dialogue primitives, while the other contains the Saber-C debugger. The Saber-C session contains both manually-developed application code and the TeleUse-generated C source code that corresponds to specified dialogue primitives, and developers may switch between the two debuggers. TeleUse itself consists of two major parts, the VIP Interface Design Tool and the Dialog Manager. The first is for painting the presentation layer of the graphical user interface instead of hand-coding calls to the X Window system or OSF/Motif, and the Dialog Manager includes a set of tools for developing parts of the user interface. Both Saber-C and TeleUse are available on the DECstation, Hewlett-Packard 9000/400, Sun-3 and other Sparc-based workstations under Unix; TeleUse is $7,500 per seat.
