With Telia Concerned it would not have enough clout in the resulting company, Telenor AS has ended talks to merge with Telia AB. Accusing Sweden’s Telia of wanting to play big brother to the Norwegian operator, Telenor decided the two companies could never reach agreement on questions ranging from how to share out voting power to who becomes the new CEO. The Swedes wanted more control and showed lack of understanding of how Norwegian industry has developed, said a Telenor spokesman. Telia, disappointed by the failure of the merger talks, will nevertheless continue its assault of the Norwegian market, where its subsidiary , Telia Norge AS, competes against Telenor.
