Tektronix Inc believes the ‘traditional’ network computer, which it refers to as the pure NC does not have a future, and believes the involvement of Microsoft Corp in this up and coming market will shape the future of the thin client. According to the company, the dumb terminal will be replaced by the thin client, with an emphasis placed on Java, video and web capability. Tektronix was supposed to be outlining its thin client strategy but so far has not come up with details on any forthcoming products or say what proportion of its revenues are generated from the video and networking division. All it would say was this was the most promising division of the company.
