Ceragon Networks has received new orders from Tata Teleservices. Ceragon has informed that it’s SDH and IP FibeAir solutions would support Tata in expanding its GSM mobile network to seven new communication circles that cover a population of nearly 400m.

Tata already deployed Ceragon’s backhaul equipment in three circles as part of a supply agreement signed by the companies in mid-2008. This agreement is now extended, bringing the number of circles to be served by Ceragon to a total of 10, including the Delhi metro area.

AG Rao, president and CTO of Tata Teleservices, said: “Tata Teleservices is gearing towards the launch of GSM services and is also enhancing capabilities on its CDMA network. To match the scale, we selected Ceragon as our technology partners. We found that Ceragon’s systems offer IP capabilities and a nodal solution with integrated cross-connect. These features fit our network expansion strategy and will also serve to support our network evolution towards 3G.”

Ceragon is also expected to provide Tata with the FibeAir 1500R wireless SDH solutions and FibeAir IP-10 that supports native TDM, Native2 (hybrid TDM/Ethernet) and native Ethernet over a single platform.
