The Bulgarian enterprise, FTO Technica of Sofia, is chartered to manufacture and supply the bulk of the disk drives of all sizes and capacities required by the collective computer manufacturing efforts of the Comecon countries under the Rjad programme. And its efforts have got a big fillip following signing this week of a letter of agreement with Tandon Corp under which the Chatsworth, California company will sell excess inventory and related manufacturing and test equipment for some of its older floppy disk drives to the Bulgarian company for $8m. The agreement covers 5.25 360Kb drives used in the IBM Personal Computer.
