As promised, Cambridge, UK-based Tadpole Technology Plc will ship its 100MHz Pentium Tadpole P1000 portable at the end of this month (CI No 2,567). It will come with a choice of 340Mb, 520Mb or 810Mb drives, 8Mb to 128Mb RAM, and a 10.4 colour active-matrix thin-film transistor display. The P1000 supports MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11, with Solaris x86, Windows 95 and Windows NT implementations planned. Prices should start from ú5,500. Tadpole aims to shift 25,000 of the P1000s this year. Tadpole will also update its Sparcbook 3 notebook offering with a higher clock microSparc, and a ruggedised offering. It is still talking about the Alpha 21066 notebook (CI No 2,418) although there is nothing on the horizon.
