T-Mobile USA, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telecom, announced the upcoming launch of T-Mobile Shadow, the first phone in a planned franchise of phones launched under the Shadow brand. The Shadow is manufactured by High Tech Computer (HTC), a Taiwanese handset manufacturer.

T-Mobile’s Shadow includes features such as calling, e-mail, text, instant message, Wi-Fi, high-speed internet access, in addition to features such as sharing a picture, video or voice note and setting reminders. It also offers T-Mobile Address Book that allows subscribers to import contact information from Yahoo!, Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and other e-mail services onto the phone using my.t-mobile.com.

The shadow also features a two mega pixel digital camera, with video capture as well as a multimedia player to listen and share music and video.

The T-Mobile Shadow will be available in two colors, copper and sage, and will be available only to T-Mobile customers at T-Mobile retail stores and online stores starting October 31 2007. The phone is priced at $149.99 with a two-year contract and a subscription for voice and data service. The data service costs $19.99 a month and also includes access through T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi locations.

We’re calling the new line of devices ‘Shadow’ because they’re designed to help people stay effortlessly connected with those who are closest to them, the people you would choose to have with you all the time if possible, the people you love checking in with during a hectic day or to share special news, said Robert Dotson, president and Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile USA. Shadow finally makes staying connected to people simple, fun, and easy, and all without the hassle of using a complicated device. This is not a productivity tool. This phone is designed for people who have lives beyond work.

We partnered exclusively with T-Mobile to help them deliver a deep communications experience that is built around the customer, said Peter Chou, president and Chief Executive Officer of HTC. In both form and function, the T-Mobile Shadow delivers an unmistakable commitment to enhancing personal relationships.

Shadow would be one of the several Windows Mobile models in T-Mobile USA’s line up. It is currently offering Sidekick, Dash, and the Wing in its current portfolio. The company also plans to launch the Kaiser, which is rumored to be T-Mobile’s first 3G Smartphone. All these devices have built-in keyboards, and are designed by HTC.
