Symantec (UK) Ltd, Maidenhead, Berkshire has released ACT! 2.0 for Windows, a new version of its contact management software. It offers network support, but enables activities to be defined as public or private, so private files are not available on the network. It has record locking and password protection features. Integrated electronic mail support enables users to send messages on systems including Lotus Development Corp cc:Mail, Microsoft Corp MS-Mail and Compuserve, averting the need to exit out of the software to send and receive messages. The calendar and address book printing supports common organiser formats, such as Filofax so users can print out information to fit into their paper-based organisers. The calendar offers a day, week or month to a view and has an automatic on-screen alarm to warn you if you have double booked your time. Other features include word processing with mail merge and an 80,000-word spell-checker. The product supports Novell Inc NetWare v2.11 and higher, Artisoft Inc Lantastic v5.0 and Microsoft Windows for Workgroups v3.00 and higher. It requires an 80386 or higher machine with 4Mb spare memory, Windows 3.1 or higher, at least 4Mb free disk space on the hard disk, and is UKP210. Users of of ACT! for Windows, MS-DOS or Macintosh can upgrade for UKP60. A four-node pack costs UKP590, with upgrades also available.
