SunRocket users can call any landline, be it traditional or VoIP, to most of Europe, as well as China, Japan and South Korea, and select Latin American cities. Calls to mobile phones will cost extra, ranging from 3 cents a minute to 30 cents.

The so-called SunSpots Edition, which costs $299 a year, also includes unlimited free calling in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

To get coverage in India, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic, users will pay $349 a year, said Vienna, Virginia-based SunRocket.

While traditional phone companies continue to gouge unsuspecting consumers with egregious per-minute charges for international calling, SunRocket remains a champion for delivering the level of value and service our customers expect, said SunRocket co-founder and chief marketing officer Joyce Dorris, in a statement.
