Stilo Technology Ltd, a Cardiff, UK-based start-up, has received $940,000 from UK venture capital company 3i Plc to develop WebWriter, its XML-based document management software. WebWriter allows corporate document writers to build, store and distribute information across the web in the format they want, rather than that defined by HTML. We’ve got to think about going to the States, says managing director Martin Pike, the schedule for now is to sell the product over the internet from next week, take on more funding in 18 months time and then look to the US internet market. The venture capital of 3i will be used to develop WebWriter’s connectivity to e-commerce systems and legacy data, says Pike.
