The new Logica system reduces waste and maximises resources ultimately saving money for taxpayers.

The 5 year contract worth £4.5m, will involve a core SAP implementation, change management and training for up to 400 users, supply of hardware, application hosting support for the duration of the contract and the development of an e-Procurement system. The solution will overcome restrictions caused at present by its manual systems.

The project is a major business change initiative that will enable the island’s Government to take advantage of mySAP.com to integrate business processes, streamline procurement procedures and improve visibility of management information. The States’ Advisory and Finance Committee estimates that a 5% saving in procurement would result in annual savings to the States of £3.5m. To further achieve this, Logica’s solution will play an integral part in helping the organisation maximise cost efficiencies through purchasing and is expected to deliver a rapid return on investment.

Commenting on the significance of the contract, Laurie Morgan, President of the States of Guernsey Advisory and Finance Committee says, The successful completion of this important project will bring substantial benefits to the States’ operation. These include better value for taxpayer’s money spent on purchasing, the creation of a centralised system, a massive reduction in paperwork and duplicated effort and the release of staff time for more productive tasks. We felt Logica was the most suitable partner.
