A reporter for the Los Angeles Times, quoting unnamed sources, reckons that Page is set to unwrap a Google PC, a low-cost computer presumably running a Google-flavored Linux variant, possibly with Wal-Mart as a channel.

Other rumors have the search company unveiling a Google Cube – a search-oriented device for organizing and networking digital content in the home.

Google does not make consumer electronics, while it does develop software and services for such devices – Google Mobile for example – so the speculation is fair game.

Another rumor being touted is that Google may launch into the browser space with the acquisition of Opera Software, the Norwegian software developer.

But previous speculation has led to nothing so it’s equally possible Google may have nothing earth-shattering up its sleeve at all.
