The Sony Computer Entertainment Inc subsidiary of Sony Corp, will start selling its game machine and software in Asian markets outside Japan from early December. The company’s 32-bit PlayStation game console and game software titles will be sold initially in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia, it said. The PlayStation model tailored for the Asian market will be sold in Hong Kong and Singapore at suggested retail prices equivalent to that of Japan, and slightly higher in Thailand and Malaysia due to import duties. In the light of the flood of unauthorized copies of game titles and modified game machines in Asia, it said the move is also aimed at establishing a structure that will protect intellectual property.
