Sony Ericsson has reported total net sales of €1.52bn for the fourth quarter of 2010, a decrease of 13% compared to €1.75bn for the same period last year.
The company has posted a gross profit margin on 30%, compared to 23%, and an operating income of €39m, compared to an operating loss of €181m for the same quarter last year.
For the fourth quarter ended of 31 December 2010, the company posted net income of €8m compared to a net loss of €167m for the same period a year ago.
For 2010, the company posted net sales of €6.3bn, down 7% compared to €6.8bn for the same period last year.
Operating income for the year was €159m, compared to an operating loss of €1.01bn for the same period last year.
Net income for full year 2010 was €90m compared to a net loss of €836m for the same period a year ago.
Sony Ericsson president and CEO Bert Nordberg said their four consecutive quarters of profit reflect the success of their shift towards an Android-based smartphone portfolio and will continue to focus on delivering the smartphones worldwide.
