ZTE has forged a strategic collaboration with Intel to produce smartphones based on Intel Atom Processor Z2580 platform.

ZTE expects that the platform will increase the performance of the next generation of ZTE smartphones and is an important part of its product development plant.

The platform, launched by Intel at the 2013 Mobile World Congress comes with dual-core processor with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, claims to double the computing performance and offer three times graphics capabilities compared to its predecessor.

ZTE Europe Mobile Devices general manager, Ao Wen, said: "We are looking forward to both continuing and broadening the relationship with Intel to support ZTE’s growth in the high performance smartphone market segment."

Intel Marketing and Business Development director, Hendrik Unkel, said: "Our work with ZTE has been instrumental as we work to expand our portfolio of mobile products and bring to market exciting new designs with Intel Inside.

ZTE and Intel recently produced the Android-based ZTE Grand X IN, which is available in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Moldova, Greece, Sweden and Norway and is expected to be launched in France.
