ViVOtech has released Near Field Communications (NFC) infrastructure software, ViVOnfc Suite 2.8, on the Solaris 10 operating system and Sun Microsystems hardware for commercial deployments. The suite is designed to help NFC service providers move from pilots and trials to commercial launches.

ViVOtech said that it has been working with Sun Microsystems to develop a software for NFC mobile payment and promotions. The result is ViVOnfc Suite 2.8, a software that includes NFC wallet and Over-The-Air (OTA) card provisioning software.

ViVOtech claims that the new suite enables the ecosystem of Mobile Network Operators (MNO), Trusted Service Managers (TSM), card issuers, merchants, and marketing services companies to securely provision and manage payment cards, coupons and tickets on NFC-enabled handsets.

The company said that ViVOnfc 2.8 features a dual server architecture which ensures that issuers will maintain the security of their card data and leverage the possible reach over mobile carrier network. Its release with OTA provisioning methods is comprised of the ViVOplatform Issuer Server, ViVOplatform Control Server and ViVOwallet mobile phone application.

According to ViVOtech, the Issuer Server resides on-site, either at the issuer’s or at the outsourced partner’s location, to provide secure card provisioning services for NFC mobile handsets. The ViVOwallet application runs on NFC mobile phones, to enable multiple payment-related applications manage secure data, allowing secure contactless payment transactions.

In addition, the Control Server resides either at the mobile operator or at the Trusted Service Manager (TSM) premises, providing administrative services to facilitate payment, loyalty, and promotion applications through an embedded or SIM-based secure element on a mobile payment device.
