The UK smartphone users spend about 58% of their time on engaging with all their smartphone apps, with 7% on voice calls, according to a new report from Arbitron Mobile.
In addition to the UK users, Chinese smartphone users spend 55% of their smartphone usage time on apps with voice call usage of 10% while US smartphone users spend their time on voice calls against messaging and browsing.
The report revealed that both messaging and browsing maintain a consistent share of smartphone use across all three countries, with users spending 22-23% of their smartphone usage on messaging and 12-14% on browsing.
In addition, the smartphone operating systems also impact the smartphone function usage, with iOS users spending more time with their smartphone compared to that of Androids.
User panelists belonging to an age group above 55 in the UK spend the most time messaging.
According to the report, in China and the US, women panelists use smartphones more than men and they browse less and message more.
The report suggests that adults (18-24 years old) are the avid smartphone users by demographic and spend a larger share of their time messaging, while users in the over 55 years age group spend the majority of their time with voice calls.
