T-Systems, a provider of information and communication technology (ICT) systems, has been selected by automotive supplier with global operations, Magna, to operate and modernise its IT, networks and applications.
Under the agreement, Magna will get its applications ‘from the cloud’, which will allow the company to book or cancel IT resources for its systems at all locations around the world as required.
T-Systems will use its Vienna T-Center to operate Magna’s 80 Exterior and Interior divisions around the world, using uniform standards and virtual environments, said the company.
Magna exterior and interior IT director Alexander Stamm said in the industry, new locations and M&A are the order of the day, which means that they can rapidly end up with a proliferation of different environments.
"T-Systems has shown that it is a company with an ‘automotive gene’ that is well-suited to us, offering above all uncomplicated, solution-oriented thinking," Stamm said.
"Today we are in a position to completely connect a new location with all its users and systems in just a few weeks – that’s amazing! And, through flexibilising our IT we have been able to significantly reduce the cost of our basic monthly SAP operation."
