Security firm Sophos has released its unified threat management application, UTM 9 which integrates gateway security and endpoint security in a single hardware or virtual box.
The new application will combine the company’s endpoint protection and unified threat management applications into a single management console allowing IT managers to configure multiple point solutions to protect their entire IT infrastructures.
It will also provide complete security protection, regardless of location, the company said.
Sophos UTM 9 utilises the cloud to secure and monitor staff wherever they are, and extends security gateways to deploy, manage endpoint protection as well as device control.
The new release features support for HTML5 VPN, which enables secure remote application access without installing additional software onto the desktop.
UTM 9 new release provides support for wireless hotspots, managing Internet access for guests and visitors. It also supports bring your own device (BYOD), while extending security policies to all guests and enabling businesses to set up guest access quotas by time and/or bandwidth.
Sophos new release also integrates e-mail and web traffic scanning using Sophos’s antivirus technology and a second commercial engine from Avira to protect against zero-day attacks.
