SAP has introduced the SAP EAM Work Order mobile app, which the company says gives field technicians remote access to information, allowing them to execute work assignments in real time.

The mobile app is built on Sybase Unwired Platform, which enables the intuitive and quick development of applications for secure access to diverse business data on many different types of mobile devices.

The new SAP tool, which is initially available on Windows 32 laptops and tablets, will enable technicians to access online and offline functionalities to manage work orders on their devices even without network connectivity.

The tool allows companies to mobilise maintenance operations across the entire enterprise and extend the value of existing enterprise applications, said SAP.

The SAP EAM Work Order mobile app automates manual, paper-based work order processes; integrates maintenance operations with other enterprise processes, and proactively manages data, devices, applications and communications for maintenance workers.

SAP EAM Work Order is a cross-industry application with focus on asset-intensive industries such as manufacturing and process industries, telco, utilities and transportation.
