Novell has introduced Sentinel Log Manager 1.1, an offering available as a software appliance, that simplifies compliance with regulatory requirements and improves an organisation’s security.

Novell said that Log Manager 1.1 is built using SUSE Studio, a web-based appliance offering, that reduces customers deployment cost and installation complexity in virtualised IT environments.

The company claims that Log Manager 1.1 can get started in minutes and eliminate time-consuming maintenance processes with its self-updating features; provides scalable, cost efficient, and multi-tenant log management tool with visibility into IT infrastructure activities to improve security and simplify regulatory compliance requirements.

In addition, Log Manager 1.1 integrates with Sentinel and the Identity Management suite providing organisations a path to identity-aware security event and information management.

Further, its real-time monitoring and remediation of network events enables customers to correlate identities, systems and data to deliver a centralised view of business operations, so organisations can continuously enforce security and access-related policies, making it easy to manage risk and prove compliance.

Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager for Security, Management and Operating Platforms at Novell, said: "The Novell Sentinel Log Manager appliance, powered by SUSE Linux Enterprise, is a cost effective and robust enterprise log management tool that helps customers quickly and efficiently scale their security and regulatory compliance efforts.

"The Sentinel Log Manager appliance is yet another proof point that Novell is executing on its strategy to lead the rapidly growing intelligent workload management market.

"Log management is one of the most pressing issues facing CISOs today, and this new appliance will help them resolve those challenges with a solution that is easy to install and manage."
