A new poll by YouGov found that iPhone owners are more likely to send an ‘sexy’ text message, compared to users using other devices such as Blackberry or Samsung.

The survey revealed that a third of iPhone owners – over 30% – had sent an explicit text message compared to 21% of BlackBerry users and 17% of those with a Samsung device.

The study found that 19% of users had admitted to sending a ‘sext’ or a racy picture to the wrong person, while one in 20 accidentally sent the message to their mother-in-law.

Duncan Spencer, managing director of insurance2go.co.uk, who commissioned the survey, said: "It does seem that iPhone owners are certainly a little more risqué when it comes to their mobile communications."

The study also threw a few surprises, with 12% of iPhone owners admitting to being dumped by text message and 13% of HTC owners admitting the same.

The Irish Examiner shared some embarrassing cases of misplaced ‘sexts’:

"I texted my mate about a girl I had slept with the night before to say how bad it was — but I sent it to the girl."

"I sent a lusty message intended for my husband to my business partner. Both have the same first name.!"

"I sent a picture of my private parts to my mother-in-law instead of my wife. When I saw her the next day she didn’t mention a thing — and hasn’t to this day!"
