Memory-Tech, a storage and media management company, has selected video-powered broadcast services provider Broadcast International’s patented CodecSys video encoding software in its KaleiDA-Turbo digital content archival offering.

The CodecSys software incorporated in the KaleiDA-Turbo product is expected to offer real-time, high definition H.264 video encoding using CELL/BE-based Fixstars GigaAccel 180. The product substantially reduces encoding time and hardware costs, said Broadcast International.

According to Broadcast International, Memory-Tech’s KaleiDA-Vu digital asset management is the defacto-standard system for music master archiving and meta data management in Japan. Memory-Tech developed the H.264 encoding system, KaleiDA-Turbo together with Broadcast International and Fixstars, which has experience in CELL/BE software developers.

Rod Tiede, CEO of Broadcast International, said: As a real-time software-based encoding solution, CodecSys is virtually ‘future-proof’ and can be readily adapted to new product platforms such as digital content management. Fixstars has become a valued partner in Japan and we are pleased to welcome Memory Tech into the evolving CodecSys ecosystem. As a worldwide leader in storage and media management, Memory Tech will be critical to the expansion of CodecSys technology into this important vertical market and we look forward to a prosperous relationship.

Shiroharu Kawasaki, CEO and president of Memory-Tech, said: Collaboration with partners is indispensable for Memory-Tech archiving solution business deployment and customer support. We are very pleased to establish a business partnership with Fixstars, developer of high-performance CELL/BE graphic processor based H.264 real-time encoder. We would like to strengthen partnership and cooperation with IBM, CELL process board developer, and Fixstars. We are going to develop useful systems and support customers of wide-ranged customers of the Japanese movie, industry and education industry.
