Lava Software, has launched PasswordVault v7.0, a password manager which automates website logins and helps users organise and secure their passwords, web bookmarks and textclip library across multiple computers.
The company claimed that the password manager’s design helps users import and consolidate their data, and it works with all web browsers on Windows, MacOS X and Linux. This new version is reportedly a free upgrade for all existing users.
The company said that PasswordVault v7.0 adds web bookmark management for bookmarks, imports web bookmarks from most browsers, adds a textclip library function, generates various types of passwords directly in the ‘Add Service’ dialog, provides a number of sorting methods for displayed services, adds drag-and-drop addition of web bookmarks and textclips, includes an optimised button layout, offers a simplified menu layout, updated help tags and help messages, and reduces startup and import times.
The company claims that standard features in PasswordVault reportedly include two-click logins on websites, 896-bit Blowfish encryption, online synchronisation (with an additional layer of 128-bit AES encryption), a Master Password Recovery System (MPRS), random password generator, auto-lock timer, import and export functions for easy backup and transfer, masked passwords, user defined service categories, editable notes, selectable skins, detailed reports after portable/desktop sync, and enhanced support for use in large organisations.
The portable version runs directly off USB flash drives and iPods, providing users with secure access to their data when they’re on the road and the convenience of auto-synchronisation when they return to their desktop computer, said company.
The Professional Edition reportedly offers additional features for password management and control within organisations, including secure auto-distribution (via shared network drives on LANs or via Web server URLs), secure multi-user password synchronisation, and logging of auto-exports and auto-import service changes. It provides a cross-platform enterprise-level password management product for companies, schools, universities and other organisations.
The free Lite Edition of PasswordVault supports up to 25 services and includes a 30 day trial of auto-distribution whereas the Standard and Professional Editions support any number of services.
